Standing Fan

Overview¶

The Standing Fan is a decorative fan that can be adjusted to different speeds and angles. It also has a practical use: when placed in front of certain flowers, it can spread pollen through the air and help nearby crops grow.

Functionality¶

The Standing Fan is a double block, but only its upper part can be interacted with.

Fan Controls¶

• Speed: Right-click to cycle through the four speed settings: stopped, slow, medium and fast. The current speed is displayed in a little LCD screen on the block.
• Rotation: Shift + Right-click to lock or unlock the fan's rotation. When unlocked, the fan head slowly swings back and forth. You can lock its rotation even while the fan is running.

Sound¶

The fan produces sound while running. You can adjust or disable the volume in the mod configuration.

Pollen Dispersal¶

Place a tall flower (except the Pitcher Plant) directly in front of the fan to make it disperse pollen through the air.

The pollen travels in a cone in the direction the fan head is facing. The distance it reaches depends on the fan's speed: the faster it runs, the farther the pollen travels.

If the fan head is unlocked and swinging, pollen is dispersed in all three directions as it rotates.

Crop Growth¶

Crops within the pollen's airflow can receive a random growth boost, applying the equivalent of Bone Meal to them.

For a crop to be affected, it must be within the airflow cone and at the same height as the fan head, or one block above or below it. When the fan head is swinging, the entire area covered by its three airflow directions is considered.

The fan checks the crops every 15 seconds. Each eligible crop has a 10% chance of receiving the growth boost during each check.

Constant particles appear on crops being affected by the airflow.
