Canned Fish
Overview¶
Canned Fish adds six decorative food items containing different types of fish. They can be stacked, eaten and even used to feed cats!
Functionality¶
Variants¶
Canned Fish comes in six different variants:
|
Canned Raw Cod |
Canned Raw Salmon |
Canned Tropical Fish |
Canned Cooked Cod |
Canned Cooked Salmon |
Canned Pufferfish |
Stacking and Interaction¶
You can stack up to 3 cans on a single block, just like Candles. All variants are interchangeable, so you can combine them in any order.
Right-click to add a can to the stack or retrieve the topmost one.
Food¶
Canned Fish can be consumed like any other food item. Each can restores three times the food value.
You can also recover the original fish by placing a can in a crafting grid. This is a shapeless recipe and returns 3 fish of the corresponding type.
More food, less space
You can use this as a method to have three times as much food in a single slot.
Trading¶
Canned Fish can be obtained through trading with Fishermen and Wandering Traders.
Fisherman trades
| Level | Item | Price | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Novice | Canned Raw Cod | 1 Emerald | 1 |
| Apprentice | Canned Cooked Cod | 2 Emeralds | 1 |
| Apprentice | Canned Raw Salmon | 1 Emerald | 1 |
| Journeyman | Canned Cooked Salmon | 2 Emeralds | 1 |
| Expert | Canned Tropical Fish | 3 Emeralds | 1 |
| Master | Canned Pufferfish | 3 Emeralds | 1 |
Cats¶
Canned Fish can also be used as cat food!
- Taming: Feeding an untamed cat with any variant except Canned Pufferfish instantly tames it.
- Healing: Using a can on a tamed cat restores three times as much health as a single fish. Canned Pufferfish cannot be used for this.
Stray Cat New Behaviour¶
Untamed cats have a new behaviour: when they detect Canned Fish nearby, they approach it, eat the topmost can if the stack contains multiple cans, and then run away.
This behaviour does not apply to Canned Pufferfish or tamed cats.
You can prevent cats from stealing your cans by approaching them closely enough to scare them away before they reach the Canned Fish.
Crafting Recipes¶
You can use any vanilla fish, but all three fish ingredients must be the same type.
